Lion Dance Troupes in Christmas Island

Christmas Island's lion dance tradition reflects its predominantly Chinese-Malaysian community, descendants of workers who arrived in the early twentieth century. Troupes perform at Chinese New Year celebrations at the island's temples and at community festivals throughout the year.
